You may recognize Justin Whalin, he’s got an unforgettable face. If you were a fan of Lois and Clark, you will remember him as reporter Jimmy Olsen. In the 2000 Fantasy ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ he played the brave and daring Ridley Freeborn and in the 1994 cult classic ‘Serial Mom’ he played the ill-fated Scotty Barnhill. Justin has been an actor since he was 11 years old, appearing in the daytime soap, General Hospital, TV shows such as Charles in Charge, The Wonder Years and Blossom. He has also been in several other films, such as Childs Play 3, Susie Q, Dorm Daze 2, Super Capers and has just completed work in Off The Ledge, which according to the Internet Movie Database synopsis is an ensemble driven dramedy revolving around an eccentric New Years Eve Party, where the Party-Goers are oblivious to the true atmosphere of pain amid the celebration of "life". It will be released in November 2009.

DO: Tell us something about yourself. What are some of your personal and professional interests?

JW: I love to play golf, follow the stock market, listen to Blues music, and scuba dive.

DO: Why did you decide to pursue acting?

JW: I actually got in to acting by chance. I took an acting class in the bay area as a lark when I was eleven years old. The teacher asked if I wanted to audition for the role of the Little Prince, in the stage production of the same name, which had come into town. I ended up getting the part and the rest is history.

DO: Are they any roles you would like to play and any actors or directors you would like to work with?

JW: There are so many actors and directors I'd love to work with it would be impossible to name them all. But, I would really love to do a western.

DO: I have to ask about Serial Mom as it's one of my favorite John Waters movies. How was that experience for you?

JW: Serial Mom was a great experience. I was working on a series at the time so I believe I'm one of the only people Mr. Waters ever hired without meeting personally. The funny part is that I was unfamiliar with his work when my agents sent me the script. So when I read it, before I auditioned, I called my agent and told her it was the weirdest script I had ever read and wasn't sure if I wanted to read for it. She, of course, explained and informed me of my ignorance of the great Mr. Waters and I went in for the audition. When I got the part I was a little concerned about how he wanted to do the masturbation scene, but once I got to Baltimore and met John it was no problem. He's a really funny, caring, and brilliant man.

DO: What advice would you have for someone wishing to pursue acting?

JW: Only do it if you love it so much you'd do it for free.

DO: Can you tell us more about your interest in wildlife preservation?

JW: I love animals. How we as a species care for life on the planet says a lot about us.

DO: What are some of your future projects?

JW: I've finished work on a movie called "Off The Ledge" which I'm very excited about.

DO: If you could meet any three people, past or present, who would they be?

JW: Warren Buffet, Shakespeare, Sidharta Gautama.

DO: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JW: I never make plans that far in advance.

Thanks Justin, we love your work and admire your interest in helping preserve wildlife, a very important issue.
