Lips, Lashes and Lids… All things we women can get OBSESSIVE over. From the girl who lines her lips to make sure they don’t feather when she applies her lipstick or lip gloss, to the girl who curls her lashes religiously because she knows that it opens up her eyes. Then there are those of us who remember to use primer on your eyelids to be sure that our eyeshadow stays put all day long. Here are some additional tips for you lovely ladies who are trying to get the most out of your make-up worlds… Let’s start with a Lash Trick: If you have eyelashes that are straight or face down? Ever tried a heated eyelash curler?? Well you SHOULD!!! Heated eyelash curlers make your lashes more accommodating. Here are some to choose from. They run anywhere from $5-$25 [depending on the brand] and are well worth the effort.
If you have fine or sparse lashes: You could apply loose powder to them (just a li’l) with your finger to give them more “body”. Once you’re done, apply mascara as usual. This is of course in lieu of eyelash primer.
Moving onto the lids: How bout PRIMER!! Yes people, it really IS that important!! Primer helps to keep you color where you put it without creasing or clumping on your eyes (lets face it, that’s just gross). It doesn’t have to be the most expensive primer you can find, you can even use concealer or foundation and powder as a primer but there should be SOMETHING between your color and your lids for the color to grab onto. A couple good ones to try: Benefit Lemonade & Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Now the LaLaLips!! Gotta love your lipssss. Take care of these people, they’re the only pair you’re gonna get. Sure you can fill ‘em with silicone, deaden the wrinkles with Botox and whatever else the plastic surgery world can come up with (God bless ‘em), but for those of us who want to work with what our mama’s gave us... Here’s something to try…. First, you should moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! One of my favorites is Burts Bees. I use this all the time. Other good ones to try are Blistex, Softlips and the old stand by, Chapstick.
When you brush your teeth, don’t forget your lips! What?! Yeah! Your lips people!! A little light brushing with your toothbrush helps to exfoliate your lips bringing forth those soft, ready to be moisturized, lips that lip gloss and or lipstick just melt onto and make your whole look come together. With that, I send you all off to do what you do best… Beautify yourselves!! xo
